post on fox constantly rejected

to bulletproofmonk:
At the end of your replies to a thread you claim to crave facts.  I will seek to edify you and ignore the typical baiting that comes from the left.
Post WWII (1940-1945) (which people today have no idea how close we came to losing) America and the Soviets essentially ruled the world.  A balance of power was developed with the values imposed upon cultures across the planet.
The American based sphere was rebuilt (largely by Americans) and prospered, leading to the largest number of people to live in unbounded freedom in the history of the world.  Travel a few eastern block countries today, or just compare N. and S. Korea for a contrast in success.

This balance of power and the threat of MAD (mutually assured destruction) led to a new phenomena, limited war, this is conflicted concept as limited war is terribly hard to succeed at, however a brief perusal of casualty figures will show they have gone down steadily so it's possible to consider the current state of things (MAD) an improvement.

American diplomacy has attempted to maintain peace throughout the world.  They are guilty today as Rome was guilty during her fall, of bribing the barbarians and trying to pay the world to be peaceful.  As one example, we give the PLO money to be peaceful, while Iran gives them rockets to shoot at Israel.

As the American power sphere collapses the various vacuums will be filled by whomever is most opportune and ruthless.  Political Followers of the Prophet, China, and Putinites are already whetting their knives to carve up our carcass.

In 20 years three quarters of  the world will be dying (in some cases literally) for the sight of an American soldier.

these are facts, and reasonable speculation based on fact, if you haven't choked yet, here's more of the same:

Good idea from an E-mail

I recently recieved an e-mail with the usual requests at forwarding to everyone purportedly outlining Warren Buffet's ideas from an interview on CNBC.

One of these ideas was to tie congressional re-election candidacy with balanced budget goals.  You don't meet the goals, you can't be re-elected.  while the vengeful appeal of firing all of congress is hard to resist, it could also generate a lot of chaos.  The chaos will come sooner or later.  Might as well get it over with.
Recently I read a newer history of the Roman Empire and could not help but note that America currently has many similarities to Rome adapting to "one man" rule (about 60 BCE).   Nero ruled during this time and the personality portrayed continued my eerie feeling as it had a striking resemblance to Obama.   Essentially the senators could not act against Nero because he was well liked by the people due to his propaganda machine.  (paying off the palace guard also helped to be fair ^^)  "Bread and Circuses" has turned into "Welfare and Food Stamps" which helped break Nero's Bank.
Nero died about 30 years old with the Roman mob after him.

The e-mail further outlines fixes for congress, most having to do with cutting back on their benefits.  I agree wholeheartedly.

Spin from .. somewhere

The Book is "The Post American World" by Fareed Zakaria
I recently received an e-mail with this picture showing our President reading a book.
The e-mail had a lot of "look we got him, he's a muslim"   he's reading radical literature!
The book is written by a muslim news opinionist for CNN.  I would have to say his opinions are moderate and realistic.  It's even possible his life is at risk from extremists. I usually learn something from his Op-Eds. I read him when I visit CNN for my daily propaganda check. In fact, if I were to pick a book about the future prospects of the world from an American viewpoint, this would be a prime candidate.
Like it or not the American power sphere is contracting.  The military is attempting to cut back it's numbers to pre-WWII levels.  Despite our best efforts to keep it sane, the middle-east looks to be slipping further and further into barbarism and theocracy.  Our Asian allies will probably be more pragmatic and happy to use us to help keep China in line.  I have other blog entries about how to fix America.
Do not allow the hidden left / NWO to bait you into Class, Religious, or Ethnic based animosities!

Another difficulty I have with these types of e-mails is the "forward me forward me" to do "your part".  But they never have a link to any organization.  It is just a megaphone.

With the Tea Party representing the right, and the OWS people representing the left it is obvious America knows something is wrong.  The Tea Partiers need to understand that we can't go back to the 50's social mores anymore the wine can go back to grape juice.  The OWS has gone so far left it's laughable, and need to suck it up and go after real corruption targets instead of whining about loans they took out for a degree in basket weaving.

Men of common sense need somewhere to turn to, and i admit to being a bit dizzy from all the head turning I have been doing.

French teacher (still unidentified) immolates herself at school

Ok, i was just reading the odd bits of action in the world.   Why i chose to write obout this is what it says about the French unions and school system:

The poor woman felt compelled to burn herself to death, and the article refers to troubles at work, stress, hard to teach etc etc.

BUT, it then says that in the school where she teaches there are 3000 students and 280 teachers.  That is a teacher for every 11 students.

BBC-Teacher dies in France after setting herself on fire

Something is seriously wrong with their unions or school system.

Thoughts on the decline of American Power

First, I would like to say, people don't start wars, governments do.

No matter what your world view, a brief reading of history will show that the American's were drafted into the role of World Policeman.  Before both World War I and II, the American people, primarily farmers, were against involvement.  Events dragged us into WWI and an uglier threat arose leading to WW2.  The rise of a quickly industrializing Asian country (Japan), hijacked by a military dictatorship, coupled with a rapidly re-industrializing fascist regime (IMO the WW1 indemnities were too severe, giving Hitler fertile ground) in a never very stable Europe led to a war involving nearly every country.

I would venture to say that 90% of the people in the world think the Americans came in, kicked arse, and took names.

To the contrary, the American victories were close and bathed in red.  I will only speak of the Pacific campaign after a quick nod to the landings at Normandy, not to exclude Europe, but it is not an area I am as familiar with.

Pearl Harbor and our spat with the Japanese was largely due to economics and American-European economic goals in China.  China, late to the industrial game due to Qing Neo-Confucian inertia, was being exploited by the Japanese, putting them against the Americans, British, French and to complicate things, Germany had interests in China also.  The western peoples were exploiting the Chinese also, but the Japanese pushed for firmer control in Manchuria.

Pearl Harbor occurs, but was not the only assault by the Japanese.  I have heard it said that the Japanese could not have won the war because they did not have the resources.  They had just seized the resources.

The battle of Midway Island (June 42) was won by the Americans by so small a margin that luck had a great deal to do with it.  The heroism of the American torpedo squadrons is indescribable.  Contributing factors such as the training of shipboard firefighting crews also helped to tip the scale.  The essential code breaking trick, inspired.

The turning back of the Japanese in the Solomon Islands at (Guadalcanal) was another crucial battle, hinging on the main Naval engagements between Nov. 13-15th.  Another knife edge fight that could have gone either way.  The advance American cruisers had Radar giving them a technological edge.  Some will draw a parallel between baseball and grenade throwing as a contributing factor to the island campaigns.  At this time the legendary Japanese martial fanaticism (based on bushido) became more apparent and had to be dealt with as a strategic factor.

This eerie (to the American mind) feeling came to a head at the battle of Okinawa (82 days in late spring of 45).  This is partially due to the kamikaze attacks (almost 1500 of them) but more to the guerrilla type resistance (mixed Okinawan civilians, including woman and children with Japanese soldiers) and the mass suicides of Okinawan civilians. The loss of life (approx. 50,000 allied, 100,000 Japanese, and an unknown "tens of thousands" civilian) coupled with the barbaric ferocity of the battles set the tone for the expected invasion of Japan:  Japan has a surface area 300 times of Okinawa, is mountainous, and is heavily forested.  IMO the estimated casualty numbers (to invade Japan), have been steadily written downward over the years.

So, as has been much debated, the Americans decided to drop the atom bomb.  IMO this was a no brainer  if the slightest effort is made to place yourself in the times. The (American) soldiers coming back from Europe were being shipped out to the Pacific, possibly forever.  I do not doubt for an instant that both Germany and Japan would have used nuclear weapons had they developed them first.  We have the German set precedent of bombing civilians as a war strategy (the Blitz) accumulating in the backlashes at Dresden and Tokyo.  I would also like to mention that the Japanese did not surrender only because of the atom bombs, and that the recently bored Soviet armies, with possible command elements that retain memories of their humiliation at the battle of Tsushima Straits in 1905 during the Russian-Japanese war, had nothing to do.  So they surrendered to the Americans because they thought they would get "better treatment" (footnote "The Fall of the Rising Sun")

Viewing Japan today shows the wisdom of their choice to surrender to the Americans, essentially they chose Americans because of their ethics.

The idea the Americans dropped the A-bomb as a genocidal effort is to me, laughable, only put forth by  ignorant or seditious people. I will not even bother to deflate it.

Post WWII left the Americans in a position dictators can only dream of: Military control of most of the world, the main exception being Communist Russia.

What did the Americans do?  They helped the downtrodden and rebuilt everything they could.

What did the communists do?  They exploited their people, and the others in their power sphere until they were bled whiter (having already been bled white by Stalin's purges and the war).

Then came an ugly game of struggle between the Soviets and the Americans that lasted for many years.  The Soviets took countries by force and the Americans took countries by economics and political subterfuge.

The tarnish started to appear on American behavior at this time, some deserved, much of it not.  Power politics is ugly and the weak culled early.  For a good description of the "Great Game Deux" (Soviet-US jostling for countries) I suggest this book:  "The Man who kept the Secrets" a biography (by a semi hostile writer) of Richard Helms, who ran the CIA from 1966 to 1973.  While not the theme of his book, the various gambits and counter gambits tell the story of the Soviet-American push and shove.  There are many other books, but this will do the job at a sitting.  I suggest getting a game of "Risk" and fill out the board with counters for the Soviets, Chinese, and the American-NATO entities and play the 30 years 1945 to 75.  It is an enlightening mind experiment.

Two high points of this game were the Korean and Vietnam wars.  The Korean war was the first "limited" war.  The war was limited by the fear of nuclear weapon exchanges.  The Soviets supplied air elements against the Americans in Korea.  The Chinese were obvious, taking their MiGs to 30,000 feet over China, then diving across the Yalu river to shoot at the American aircraft, then scurrying back to China.    The first MiG kills by American pilots occurred over China, and were not recorded.  The Soviet connection is harder to trace, but there are reports of red haired Caucasians in the water after some MiG downings.  (add footnote "US Naval Air War in Korea" 1986 Richard Hallion)
Later,, came the Chinese troops, to insure the north stayed communist.
This was the first serious test of nuclear detente, and this balance of nuclear threat stopped the outbreak of a larger war.  While diplomacy was forced because of this balance, it forced the Americans to fight "limited war" bringing us to roughly a tie in Korea.

As we know, Korea is divided as are it's people.  They are divided into the prosperous thriving people of the south, and the oppressed starving people of the north.  American ethics didn't make it north of the 38th parallel.  This domino is still standing, but rocks occasionally from a northern wind that likes to blow hard.

Vietnam, our second limited war, was a disaster at so many levels, i will touch on only a few.  The first "Television War" brought to you by DuPont, but i will get to the media later.  Personally, it sickens me to think of the sedition that took place in America in the 60's.  Many of the campus activists were agitated by communist elements, knowingly and unknowingly (note to self, disproven, at least until 1967 when then director of the CIA Richard Helms said  "no evidence of any contact between the most prominent peace movement leaders and foreign embassies in the U.S. or abroad." summarizing the CIA's domestic spying (scandal) operation Chaos).  The rise in drug supply (on the coasts of America) was also a possible state sponsored communist effort (it is a technique written down in a KGB how to operations book dated a few years before). It was also used by the British (via opium) to advance agendas in China (reprehensible).   It was noted around 1975 that the number of antenna on the Soviet Embassy in San Francisco had almost tripled from the so called "peak" of the cold war in 1962 (Cuban missile crises).  This rise in traffic is also due to the success of the southern bay area in many technological areas (aka the Silicon Valley).

Smilin' Joe Stalin once said: "America is like a healthy body and it's resistance is threefold: it's patriotism, it's morality, and it's spiritual life.  If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."

Television's role, or the media's manipulation of the Vietnam war, is another subject that much has already been written about.  The turning of the American public's mindset into thinking anything in cammies was a baby killer is sedition.  Many American Vietnam Veterans, or Vietnam era Veterans, can tell you stories of public humiliation or ostracism.  My personal experience in the American military (1973-77) was sufficiently distasteful due to the low morale that I chose to serve just the one enlistment.  Political limits on how the war was actually fought insured our failure.  The concept of "open blockade" (humanitarian aid only) is flawed when in contact with reality.  Enough black market items will come through despite the best efforts. A modern example is the Gaza blockade and the occasional flurry of rockets landing in Israel.  The policy of "how long can we keep this at least a tie", increasing war profiteering for many, and to stay there without the political will to win is one of the greatest failures in American Government history.  In this point, many of the anti war factions were correct, bring em home.  What Eisenhower warned us of, and I will use his original term: the Military-Industrial-Congressional complex, had full rein.

Herman Cain talks Race

An article about a rock called "niggerhead" on Perry's "property".

My response in the comment logs that had degenerated to bigoted name calling.

"Racism is being stirred up by those that will benefit from the distraction.  All races practice racism, what is tiring is the the public dogma exists that you must be white before you can qualify.  Human's are naturally discriminatory, for example beauty pageants.    I recently tracked a tea party spam e-mail with slight racial overtones back the source (as it had the gall to ask for money, it was an easy track) and it seems to have originated from a shadowy Soros entity.   I have nothing to offer as far as speculation as to why a left/socialist/communist entity would want to incite racial hatred, but i do note that it seems that it is the left leaning news outlets that are painting the tea party as racist.

There will always be distasteful elements in any political movement.  They cannot be completely removed.  To my friends (and enemies) of all colors in America I ask you don't get baited into acting a fool.  We have to, as a nation get a handle on a few things:

Cut back welfare because we cannot afford it.  Too bad Too sad.  "Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of happiness"  Not free happiness on someone elses dime 24/7 your entire life.

Get a handle on the white collar corruption that has rotted the financial industries where they control our lives, and our government.

Get the economic playing field re-leveled with China (tariffs etc)

Re establish our manufacturing capabilities including raw resource extraction.

Insure domestic supply (birth to earth) of all critical infrastructure and military product.

All foreign aid programs reviewed and cut back as deemed necessary.  If the world wants a police force, they can have it, but they gotta pay and stop burning our flags.

i could go on

When asked (as a white guy) if i think affirmative action has worked? (i saw it early as i was in the navy just after the Kitty Hawk riots)

I say... "Well I still don't feel safe in Oakland..."

Fox news rant of the day RE: China/military (for my records)

China came late to the industrial game due to Qing Neo-Confucian inertia.  They were then held back from development by civil war and the "warlord" period, the Japanese and WWII, and the communists who perpetrated the greatest genocide of history.

They are now, after developing a sufficiently malleable and brainwashed population, getting a handle on industry and technology.  They are flush with cash and feeling their oats.

Taiwan, which follows western ideals/values more closely than China's communist regime is our ally (think a huge N Korea, a tiny S. Korea, with water for the 38th parallel).  This has roots as far back as the 19th century.  We have betrayed Taiwan several times due to "realpolotik".  (Taiwan kicked out all the American diplomats, some at gun point, in the mid 70's when Nixon normalized relations with China).

I personally will cry a river the day we cough up Taiwan to appease the Chinese.  Because it's another domino falling the wrong way.

Fear the rise of the nationalists in the Chinese Military Acadamies, if this occurs, and morphs into something along the lines of 1930's Japan, we are in for a boatload of trouble.  Already it is easy to find acts of Chinese aggression in SE Asian news.

We should start reopening rare earth mines here in the States (previously closed, couldn't compete with the chinese) as China has already choked rare earth supply to Japan for political reasons.  (for you Green types, you will never get green without rare earths)

Slap tariffs on imports, review all mission critical components of the military and defense entities for 100% domestic sourcing, look em in the eye and know them for who they are.  Negotiate as needed.  Start keeping the best technology closer to home.  Try to instill some patriotism in big business (cynical laugh), never mind, just a bit of hope there.

Fix America, another rant

I think Obama is the worst president in American history that I am aware of.  (I am not all that good at American governmental history).  I also think he doesn't really matter any more than a day old mouthful of spit.

Our real enemy is the greed and pride of the elites that control both American parties.  They are spreading racial, class, and misplaced religious hatred (assault on Christians, coddle a moslem) in order to confuse and polarize the masses to their true games, which seems to be a leftist U.N. based world political system in bed to some degree with a boat load of moslems.   Please remember, even Jesus overturned the moneylenders tables.   The American public has just recently been robbed by the banking/mortgage/housing industries.  They have not stopped, the extortion of the American tax payer goes on with every turn of the dollar press.

Beware the following warning signs (among others)

US troops under direct UN control (baby steps in Libya)

US gun laws bowing to international laws and or regulations

The ramming of carbon based cap and trade down our throats due to "global warming" (jury still out, hard to find straight facts, see posts on climate)

One must understand our place in history, and include the future in this vision.  Our place in history is already established as a falling empire.  China will rise and expand, bullying south east asia economically,  and may God (or Gods, if you prefer) help us if the right wing elements of the Chinese military seize control of their government (think 1930's Japan with unlimited natural resources).

The Great American Lion has seen it's best days, and the world knows this.  Every country is going to try to take a bite out of us on our way down.  This includes our current "friends".  And it is important to remember that "Big Business" has no patriotism.

The only thing we can do to truly "Save America" would require draconian measures such as:

Immediately dissolve or establish new rules for our relationship with the UN, I have lost track of the number of reasons this misguided parasitic boil on the American body politic should be shutdown.  If you want something from America, come and ask for it, bring your checkbook, and in the case of failed states looking for more handouts, at least bring humility and stop burning our flags.

Open statement to the (mostly moslem) World:  If you assault us in any way, shape, or form.  We will come kill you in the dark of night, every single time.  We will recognize no borders (except those defined by realpolitik) or foreign courts.  And follow through every single time. (personally, when drone technology gets better, i think laser blinding of terrorists should be done with a rasterized cross, to better instill the legend of our vengeance).

Become the world's police force,  But they have to ask us really, really nicely, and pay for it.

Merit Based Voting:  If you do not, or have not, worked in your life, you don't get to vote.  This eliminates the "negative feedback loop" of large voting blocks voting themselves more entitlements.  Which proves to me true democracy,  even the type we have here in the US (Republic), is in the long run, an unsustainable system.

(historical/ constitutional note:  Both the Greeks and our Founding Fathers had social requirements for voting)

Public acknowledgement that we, the American people, are about to lose the war of commerce.  There are many reasons for this.  Touching on a few that need immediate attention:
lack of Import tariffs

An EPA common sense overview, restructure, and sharp curtailment of their growing power.

Immediate cessation of all "Dark Pool" trading, and a removal of computer "intelligence" from trading (algorithms).  I will never know enough about this, but some type of oversight is needed.

THE EDUCATION SYSTEM;  No child should be left behind, BUT sort them out by aptitude at about 10 years old, teach the bright ones and send them on to higher education in Math, Science and Engineering,  Train the ones who are not so blessed so they have pride in what they do  Tinker Tailor Soldier etc etc

Slap a fine on the Chinese for estimated hardware/software/media piracy.  Deduct it from what we owe them.

Immediate review of all foreign aid programs.  Justification and purpose.  Sharp reductions will be needed, babies will die, women will weep, and men will shake their fists, drink, and say venomous things about us.    But, they already do.

Re open all the American rare earth mines (closed because they could not compete with the Chinese)  (part of EPA overview above)
Update 10/9/2011: Rare earth mines re-opened!
http://www.asahi.com/english/TKY201110080277.html

Re-invigorate the space program, overtly to go to the moon for Helium-3 (a good power source candidate for the next 100 years), China and Russia are both starting programs) and covertly to compete with the chinese military in space as they are weaponizing their space program.

Review all military assets for manufacturability in case of war.  Ensure 100% of parts are available domestically.  All chinese parts in stock or early production retested.  (evaluate parts as to necessity, not suggesting we tear test toilet paper)

English becomes the only language in the courts and schools.

Medical ethics review boards to analyze the effects of "negative eugenics" upon society.

Why I dislike "Wall Street"

Recently inspired by being thought liberal after voicing concerns regarding Black Pool trading and the use of computer algorithms for trading I am going to try to articulate why I do not like "Wall Street".

In WWII it was American industrial capacity that saved our arse.  We out built them.  Even better, our free thinking minds out designed them for another 50 years. In the old days guilds were formed to protect trade secrets.  America protected it's technology well until the 1960's cultural revolution when it became more and more popular to sell hi-tech equipment to former enemies, in some cases, to existing enemies' proxies.  The Clinton administration was particularly good at it.  I recall being particularly incensed when Clinton sold some proprietary bearing cutting machines to a Chinese proxy effectively making all of their submarines significantly quieter.

This has become much uglier, besides all of the jobs the past administrations (of both stripe) have shipped overseas, the demonization of heavy industry here in the US and the trade imbalance, there are serious defense considerations.

What percentage of .. say a F-18 is manufactured here in the US?  If not 100% what countries supply these components?  This is a topic that can be expounded on, i digress.

With the rise of the left in the mid 60s, these college students then entered the workforce.  It would be interesting to know the stats on number of MBA's vs. Civil engineers (or other "hard science") for the last 70 years or so.  I, after learning electronics in high school and the military, worked in the silicon valley in about 6 or 7 start up companies.  Watching how MBA's execute their skills on an "acquired asset" is a real eye opener.  Ethics are pretty well forgotten and bumper stickers like "he who dies with the most toys wins" exist on the backs of BMW's.  For anyone not feeling the anger i suggest re-watching (rereading?) the Scott Lei (sp) Enron testimony.  He is not the only one! These ethically castrated people have existed in business since time began, but, by their nature, rise to the top, and generally stay there until overthrown by a stronger power.  (i.e. the Knights Templar gained much power though usury tricks and were eventually purged)  I personally believe that the general ethical behavior in Americans has plummeted over the last 40 years.  I know damn sure it has in the politicians.

Now the tools with the most economic leverage ever to exist in the history of man are in the hands of MBA's and computer scientists.  The servers and condition sampling/prediction algorithms are in the hands of those that like power.  I have worked closely with computers, and have a pretty good idea of how they work.  The same can be said of programming, but i am not a programmer.

remember, some of these banks pay up to 150,000$ per square foot for server space in prime financial areas, to gain a few billionths of a second.

I imagine these servers (programs) recognize "states" i.e A hurricane in Florida + glut of plywood supply in Oregon = buy shipper stock for next 24 hours sell in 3 months

This concept can be honed to an infinite number of of conditions, and improved constantly over time with observation.  It is a computer based money skimmer.  So far it has only worked with massive cash injections at the taxpayer level.  When will their "computer model" develop a self sustaining feedback loop that pays for itself?   How much did it contribute to the "loan derivatives" causing the "too big to fail" situations costing me 40% of my retirement cash and about 100k equity, and my kids future money (by way of taxes).

Update 4 09/30/12
Ma and Pa investors lose out on recent stock market gains

I would also like to re-state that I think the top 5 white collar crime felons for each year should be hung by the neck until they are dead on the white house lawn on the day of the State of the Union Address.  I stress that it should be a day of celebration with food for all,  trinkets for the kids, and weak beer for the adults.

Found some outrage, Ignored in the media? Starting to look like it...

https://occupywallst.org/

Peeps protesting Wall Street.  Now while I don't recommend this group (yet), because their agenda seems unclear (i haven't read what they are up to in detail).  But I am surprised there hasn't been more of this.  I do not understand why everyone who paid into 401ks and Social Security aren't more angry about bankers/wall street/credit rating/government/mortgage companies flushing 40% of retirement wealth on uncounted predominantly honest hard working people.

Questions I would like to see answered:

Why is black pool trading allowed?  Is it regulated?

Why are large financial servers being moved to 150K$ a sq. ft. facilities close to financial hubs so they have a 9 or 10 nanosecond edge on each other?

These things, un-regulated trade, and computer algorithms trading at a speed fast enough to where billionths of a second make a difference are what scare me into thinking the talking heads are heading the American train for a cliff.

I would also like a list of big money companies and people that have essentially "sold out" America, and drag in the politicians that aren't willing to slap some trade leveling mechanisms with our global cheap labor competitors.

Solyndra and goverment smoke and mirrors

First off, American based solar companies will not succeed because they can't compete with the Chinese.

I would also like to note, CNN hasn't run a story on Solyndra in 3 or 4 days.

So they all take the 5th, a predictable outcome but what toasts my bread is the following statements:

First it is established that the 500M loan was "restructured" (by the Obama administration) to pay the private investors off first, as opposed to the taxpayers, in case of bankruptcy or default in clear violation of economic stimulus law.

BUT
Deputy energy sec. Daniel Poneman (squidmo in my mind) sez that "the restructuring was entirely legal" because he was looking out for the taxpayers best interests by giving the company a better chance to succeed.

I mean... what is the response to such obviously self serving idiocy?  This has to be criminal.  If it isn't, then it should be.  I hope people wake up to the idea that criminals, in suits or in tats, need to be punished to the point of deterrence.

I propose that on the day the state of the union address is made, they hang the top 5 white collar crime criminals on the front lawn of the white house.  It should be a festive atmosphere with treats for the kids and weak beer for the adults.  Perhaps vendors can sell tiny nooses with the most vilified character dangling on the end.  Maddoff on a stick, Bouncing Bernie.

Update:  10/7/2011 This describes the "Federal Financing Bank" which is ripe for abuse (or squeezed dry from abuse)
 http://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/2011/10/06/treasury-bank-behind-solyndra-and-mortgage-bailouts

They start with an Obama quote ""We are not going to be duplicating the kind of system that they have in China where they are basically state-run banks giving money to state-run companies and ignoring losses and ignoring, you know, bad management."

Then the article points out that we DO have a state run bank that props up private ventures, and in the case of the Solyndra loan, the private investors get paid back before this "bank".

This is the type of corruption in the system that should be front page news every day until it is exposed and corrected.

Update 10/13/11 another company in the same situation:

Update 10/14/11 the actual structure of the loan being called into question by  Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce oversight subcommittee.

Gary Burner, chief financial officer of the Treasury Federal Financing Bank responsible for the loan and a 28-year veteran of the Treasury Department, said he's never heard of a case where private money was prioritized ahead of taxpayer money in a loan.
The GOP lawmakers cited other emails showing that Mary Miller, an assistant treasury secretary, said the restructuring deal could violate the law because it put investors' interests ahead of taxpayers.

What I would like to see is the head of the FFB questioned by a senate investigative committee about where FFB money goes.

Update:10/18/2011
So here we are, Solyndra has been dropped from the mainstream media but here's a tidbit i found in the backwaters of fox with 3, count em 3, comments ... that were made by advertising bots or paid comments for gold , stocks, and get rich quick schemes.

Apparently some Delaware judge decided that ``I think it's clear this case does not rise to the level of failure to disclose that would mandate appointment of trustee,''
So the fact the the top management all takes the 5th doesn't raise a flag for any one?
They are going to continue to let these people run the company on our dollars without oversight?
I have no proper words to reflect my dismay at how rotted our government has become.

UPDATE 11/27/11
I have been following the story still, but just saw the same stuff rehashed until this moment when Chu is taken to task
 Chu takes the fall

Re: the loan structure Chu says:
he Energy Department faced a difficult decision in late 2010 and early this year, Chu said: Force Solyndra into immediate bankruptcy or restructure the loan guarantee to allow the company to accept emergency financing that would be paid back first if the company was still unable to recover.
"Immediate bankruptcy meant a 100 percent certainty of default, with an unfinished plant as collateral. Restructuring improved the chance of recovering taxpayer money by giving the company a fighting chance at success," Chu said in his written testimony.
Although both options involved significant uncertainty, Chu said he made the judgment that restructuring was the better option to recover the maximum amount of the government's loan. The decision also meant continued employment for the company's approximately 1,100 workers, he said.
Chu said it was worth noting that U.S. taxpayers remain first in line for repayment of the initial loan and noted that private groups invested nearly $1 billion in the company.

So, what a mess to figure out.  Stinks to high heaven to me.  I have no idea how prolonging failure can be a positive thing.  I would be especially irked if i was one of the managers (out of the loop) and told to hire a bunch of peeps only to lay them of in a few months time.  Even worse if it's just to set the stage for a dog and pony show.

Stem Cells, Chinese Mythology, and K-horror

I have had a unique existence recently which includes the ingestion of (pig) stem cells.  They truly work wonders, and while not easily impressed, I could use the term miraculous.

I have been a horror fan all of my life, and the same can be said of  mythology.  I was recently watching "Dumplings"  from 2004 (I think there are 2 versions) and although I didn't finish it (some J and K horror I find too distasteful), I did watch it long enough to know they were ingesting fetuses to maintain beauty.

I also seem to recall a Asian horror movie with the theme of ancient Chinese keeping fetuses and children of very young age in small urns for magical purposes.

If you had to find stem cells in the ancient world, fetuses would be the only source.  When I took my stem cells, I took them "oral, sub-lingual", in other words, I held them under my tounge for as long as possible to be absorbed through the lymphatic system.  Is it possible that there are ancient Chinese magical practices that involve the ritual eating of fetuses?   Since ancient medicine was mostly trial and error, is it possible they achieved benefits from these rituals?  As fetuses develop, their cells vary and you have stages of "new" nerve, muscle, bone, etc etc cells being formed.  Is it  possible that they were able to "tune" the benefit to the age of the fetus?

Odd thoughts, but it would be interesting to cross-correlate the rituals (if they exist) with cell development.

Global Warming Question, yet to be answered

Good Day, if you are reading this and are a believer in Human Caused (anthropogenic) Global Warming.  Please explain to me this:

circa 1000 AD Erik the Red left Iceland (because of "some killings") and founded a colony he named Greenland as a marketing ploy.  This colony thrived and raised livestock including dairy cows. It should also be noted there is fair evidence that wine grapes grew as far north as Labrador.

Erik's colony on Greenland died out after 400 years as the climate grew colder and colder.  The evidence that the colony died out from this is in the archeological records written on the bones of the stunted northmen.

This period, known to historians as "The Great Medieval Warming Period" is notably absent from most climate change discussions.

I recently read an article in FOX about how Greenland was suffering due to "climate change" but it is fairly clear that it is not as warm as in say 1100 AD.
I have asked this in several venues and will ask it again here:

Is the earth as warm as it was in 1000-1400 AD?

While an engineer by trade, i like my explanations simple and this is a yes or no question.
