Chinese implant chips in Irons to send spam

Welcome to the connected world.  Apparently several types of electronic devices made in China contain several types of malign chips.

This appears to be regular criminality, but what has their government been doing?  Especially with components bought by our military.  I hope we are vigilant regarding this attack vector.
